How do I care for this brass/copper item?

Copper and brass naturally develop a patina (slight darkening or antique finish) over time due to exposure to air and moisture. This is normal and does not affect durability or usability. Copper Purity Tests: • Magnet Test: Copper is non-magnetic. • Scratch Test: Real copper shows reddish-brown/orange underneath. • Chemical Test: Vinegar + salt produces a greenish-blue reaction. • Oxidation Check: Genuine copper develops a green patina over time. • Sound Test: Copper gives a dull, deep sound when tapped. • Flame Test: Produces a blue-green flame when heated. How to Clean & Restore Shine: • Mix lemon juice or vinegar with salt. Rub gently on the surface. • Or soak in white vinegar for 15 minutes to dissolve oxidation. • Scrub with lemon + salt or tamarind paste until copper shines. • Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Food Safety: Our brass and copper glasses are food-safe and suitable for drinking water and other beverages when used as intended. After cleaning, use only for plain, room-temperature water. Color Fading: Regular cleaning and polishing can help maintain the original shine. The patina is a natural characteristic of these metals.

Is the green or dark appearance a quality issue?

No. The appearance is patina, a natural effect that occurs on copper within 2–3 days because of oxidization. This is normal and does not affect the durability of the product.
